After the completion of the questionnaires, following registration, our team collects and analyzes the medical and developmental history of the person referred to the clinic. The file will be presented to our psychiatrist/ child psychiatrist to verify its completeness before the meeting with the psychiatrist/ child psychiatrist, either at the clinic or via telemedicine.

The questionnaire concerning the behaviors observed during childhood, in the form of a semi-structured interview for the diagnosis of autism, done by the psychiatrist or child psychiatrist:

This thorough and standardized questionnaire is addressed to one (or more) close relative(s) (if possible a parent) who has witnessed the early years of the person being evaluated. It allows a quantified interpretation and is internationally validated as a reference tool for the diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This assessment is performed and interpreted by the psychiatrist/child psychiatrist. The results are included in the final report.

The Current Behavior Observation Test for the Diagnosis of Autism:

This examination requires a specific technicality because it integrates, according to the level of verbal functioning of the person and his/her age, simple tasks and questions on daily functioning. The aim is not to evaluate the subject's cognitive abilities but to place him/her in social situations that will allow a precise and quantified evaluation. This observation tool can also be used to measure progress.

Report writing and submission :

This thorough and standardized questionnaire is addressed to one (or more) close relative(s) (if possible a parent) who has witnessed the early years of the person being evaluated. It allows a quantified interpretation and is internationally validated as a reference tool for the diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This assessment is performed and interpreted by the psychiatrist/child psychiatrist. The results are included in the final report.

Additional assessments in the network :

It is very often important to check whether the parent report of items in the ADI-R and those found directly in assessment or with the ADOS are also present in a wider context. It may be necessary to obtain additional information from people in the person's broader network (teachers, caregivers, extended family, etc). This information will be collected by telephone or observation and will either be incorporated into the assessment report or provided independently, depending on the context.

For the first session, the psychiatrist/pedopsychiatrist fills out the questionnaire concerning the behaviors observed during childhood. The person being evaluated (child or adult) must be accompanied by a person who witnessed his or her childhood (mother, father, brother, sister, etc.).

Following this first meeting, we will discuss with you whether or not it is necessary to continue with the current behavioral observation test.

There is no direct charge to patients for this evaluation or for the report.

For a complete assessment, one or two meetings of approximately 90 minutes are required. Afterwards, the report is sent by email. The patient or his or her family may request a discussion with the psychiatrist / child psychiatrist to clarify the content.

THE PRODUCTION OF VARIOUS CERTIFICATES (GOVERNMENT, TAXES, GRANT APPLICATIONS, INSURANCE, ETC.) WILL BE BILLED TO THE PATIENT ACCORDING TO THE FEES RECOMMENDED BY THE QUEBEC PSYCHIATRIST ASSOCIATION (AMPQ) AND WILL BE COMPLETED WITHIN THREE MONTHS OF THE REPORT BEING SUBMITTED.

As we receive a large number of emails, it is important to mention in all your communications with us the name of the child or person who is to be evaluated, as well as his/her date of birth. if you need to submit professional reports or appointments, please use the address RVetrapports@cevamtl.com.
